Masks, more than just a symbol of the coronavirus, are now also an aptly timed fashion accessory. Taking over the runways of Paris Fashion Week, the masks were a bold statement made by the designers who accessorized an essential commodity in the midst of a pandemic. They claimed it was their way of acceptance and making the most out of the situation at hand. As big as it is right now, the trend of wearing masks will only grow in the seasons to come, becoming more so a form of expression than a requirement. It’ll be a nod to one of the most significant events in human history; a way that the fashion community would pay homage. These masks will represent the spirit, sacrifice and strength that got us through this time.

This look, by Aarushi Mal, is a look out of the future, hand-picked from the runways of 2021. The color red is boldly worn as eyeliner, and on the lower lash line as a vivid representation of courage, desire, and a form of embracement of the dark pasts of humanity. The sequins and glitter highlight embody the flourishment seen in the post-pandemic life. We, as the human race, continue to thrive as time goes onwards, having survived one of the toughest challenges thrown to us by Mother Nature. This look is a salute to this very message.

What's more? Kim Kardashian West, an influencer, a reality TV star, and now an entrepreneur has released masks under SKIMS, her own underwear brand. By commercializing a necessity in today's age, she has made quite a large profit of her own. Controversial as though it may seem, she has used her fame and hefty following for the better. There is no doubt in her products being overpriced, but her fans will do it for the name. They will continue to do so even after the scare is over; keeping the trend hotter than ever, and the mask business booming- all by wearing it as an accessory.
